THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS
FAQs
What type of metal are your earrings made from?
All Ear Edit earrings are made from implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136) — the same standard trusted for medical implants. Translation? It’s the safest, most durable, hypoallergenic metal for your ears.
- Hypoallergenic & nickel-free → No irritation, even for the most sensitive ears.
- Non-tarnishing & water-resistant → Swim, sweat, and sleep in them without worry.
- Implant-grade certified → The gold standard used by piercing professionals worldwide.
What makes Ear Edit different than other brands?
Ear Edit is sister and professional piercer-owned, which means every design comes from real experience on both sides of the piercing chair. We create earrings with the actual ear in mind—prioritizing safety, healing, and long-term comfort without ever compromising on style.
We use F136 implant-grade titanium (the safest, hypoallergenic metal), flat backs for everyday wear, and modern designs that move with you. We started Ear Edit because we were tired of outdated shop jewelry and wanted something fresh, stylish, and truly ear-friendly.
At our core: we care about piercing safety and style in equal measure.
Why do my ears get irritated by most earrings?
Ear irritation usually comes down to the metals used in jewelry. Many earrings are made with mixed metals—like nickel, brass, or plated alloys—that can break down over time and cause reactions. Even “gold” jewelry often has hidden alloys that aren’t pure.
For people with skin sensitivities or metal allergies, those mixed metals can lead to redness, itching, burning, swelling, or even infection around the piercing.
That’s why Ear Edit uses only implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136) - it’s 100% nickel-free, hypoallergenic, and trusted in medical implants. Translation? Safe, irritation-free earrings you can actually live in.
Why do my ears have a hard time healing from piercings?
Healing depends on both the piercing process and the jewelry used. Some of the most common reasons ears struggle to heal are:
- Piercing method → Gun piercings can cause unnecessary trauma because they force jewelry through tissue, while a professional needle piercing creates a clean channel for better healing.
- Poor placement or angle → If a piercing isn’t aligned and angled properly, it can put pressure on the tissue and slow down (or even prevent) healthy healing.
- Jewelry quality → Mixed metals, plating, or low-grade materials can trigger irritation or allergic reactions. Using implant-grade titanium (F136) is the safest option to keep piercings healthy.
- Aftercare & lifestyle → Touching piercings with unwashed hands, sleeping on them, or not following aftercare instructions can all irritate the area and prolong healing.
At Ear Edit, we combine professional piercer expertise with implant-grade titanium jewelry so your ears have the best possible chance to heal safely - without compromising on style.
What are the chances my ears will not agree with the titanium?
Implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136 or F67) is considered one of the safest metals and the gold standard for body jewelry. True titanium allergies are extremely rare — research shows they affect ~0.6% of the population or less (fewer than 1 in 150 people).
It is nickel-free and hypoallergenic, which removes the most common trigger for irritation and allergic reactions.
Most “reactions” people experience to titanium jewelry are usually due to:
- Incorrect piercing placement and angle. This is why it is important to stick to professional piercers using one-time use hollow needle.
- Poor piercing aftercare or infection (not the metal itself).
- Jewelry that’s marketed as 'titanium' or 'solid gold' but is actually a mixed alloy, coated or plated.
- Sensitivity to other metals (like nickel or cobalt) in non-implant-grade jewelry.

I am missing the other matching earring!
All of our earrings are sold as individual, singles, unless otherwise noted as a pair. The reason for this is so that you can mix and match, stack and create your own edit.
If you want to of the same earrings, please put two in your cart when checking out!
If you accidentally only bought one and would like a matching, you'll need to place another order. If your matching earring is now sold out, please follow our return/exchange policy so we can get you two matching pieces you love!
There is a bend in the pin, I think my earring is broken!
It is common to think that your earring may be broken if you see a slight bend in the pin. This is intentional! There should always be microbend in the pin, this is how it 'tension-fits' inside of the flat back post.
Without this bend, your front (the pretty part of the earring!) will slide right in and out of the flatback post. We want this to be semi-tight so that you don't lose the front of your earring, or it falls out.
Every time you take your earrings in/out - make sure that small bend is there so they stay nice and snug in your ear.
